Faruque Hassan, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has reached out to the Bangladesh embassy in Iraq for assistance in ramping up exports of ready-made garments (RMG) to the oil-rich nation.
In a recent meeting at the embassy in Baghdad, a BGMEA delegation led by Faruque Hassan met with Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Iraq, Fazlul Bari. During this meeting, Hassan discussed Bangladesh’s current garment industry status, future potential, vision, and core strategies for sustainable growth. He expressed optimism that the embassy’s diplomatic efforts would uncover trade prospects for Bangladesh in Iraq.
Hassan underlined the importance of exploring new markets and diversifying products to achieve BGMEA’s ambitious goal of $100 billion in RMG exports by 2030. He urged Ambassador Bari to actively showcase Bangladesh and its thriving apparel industry by presenting success stories and potential to key Iraqi government officials and stakeholders.
Hassan also extended gratitude to Ambassador Fazlul Bari and embassy officials for their support in arranging crucial meetings with Iraqi government ministers and trade associations to boost bilateral trade and investment.
Ambassador Bari assured the BGMEA delegation of the embassy’s unwavering support in harnessing trade opportunities within the Iraqi market.
