Seventy-eight entities in as many as 28 categories have been awarded the National Export Trophy by the Bangladesh Government recently in recognition of their extraordinary performance in export earnings in the fiscal year 2019-20.
This is as per media reports, which added the major categories in which the award was given included categories like readymade garments, jute, leather goods, footwear, packaging, plastic goods, frozen foods, food processing, ceramics and electronics
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) AHM Ahsan, and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md Jashim Uddin, handed over the trophies to the respective exporters at an award ceremony held in capital Dhaka.
Of the recipients, 28 entities received gold trophies, 25 silver and 17 bronze.
Meanwhile, addressing the event on behalf of the winners, the Managing Director of Universal Jeans Ltd, Syed M Tanvir, reportedly underlined that it would be possible to export apparels worth US $ 100 billion in the next 10 years.
